Getting ready for May 1st. opening. Doing some warm-up with small watercolours. It's all in preparation for the upcoming Montague Plein Air Festival. It's going to be a very busy season. These watercolours are $50.00, and less. The size varies from 5X7 and 8X8.
Motivation is not coming easily, today ... creativity must have hitched a ride out of town as well, in order to escape the 'Storm Of The Century that is swirling about our little Island. Be that as it may, I will give it my best shot to get the creative juices flowing again.
I've been exercising with these small 5 x 7 watercolours, warm-ups in preparation for my "Plein Air" trip. I'm leaving this winter blast for the Island of St Thomas, in the Virgin Islands. By the time I get back, I'll be ready to continue painting the Island for our summer visitors.
My "Art Shed" is filled with past projects, and new unframed work. My gallery works will display both the framed and unframed price (without glass) to facilitate easy shipping, if necessary.
I'm inviting everyone to Vermillion Art Works, in Charlottetown, on Friday, November 14, 2014. I have a new collection of 36 works centred on 'The Island Way' theme. Please come and view my watercolour paintings, for one night only, at 87 Water Street, Charlottetown, from 7:00 - 10:00 P.M.
Unsold work will be available for viewing, either online, or by appointment at my home studio in Mount Stewart. I'm at 26 MacIntyre Road, and the 'Red House Art Gallery' is at the end of the pavement.
Paintings will also be available online, after 9:00 P.M., November 14, on both my website and my 'Red House Art Gallery' Facebook page. Information will include the painting's name, dimensions, and its tax included price [shipping not included].
I'm really looking forward to seeing all of you there.
Hi everyone. Hope you've had a wonderful summer. I've been quite busy lately, and haven't taken time to update my site, until today. The gallery has welcomed visitors from near and far, across Canada, The United States and overseas. I've spent some time dedicated to "Plein Air" painting around the Island, combined with a couple 'On-Site sessions at 'Vermillion Art Works', on Water Street in 'Old Charlottetown'.
I've just posted my new work; hope you find something you like.
These paintings are on display and for sale at the P.E.I. Farm Centre Exhibition titled 'Cuisine Art, Good Enough To Eat'.
Opening reception is on July 15th from 7-9 p.m. at the Farm Centre - 420 University Avenue, Charlottetown. Works are on display from July 15th until September 26/2014.
We had a wonderful time at the Haviland Club, in Charlottetown, on Saturday night. Scott Parsons new CD, 'The Old Stock' was officially launched, and despite the power outage and the raging wind storm, we all managed to eat, drink and be merry. My apologies for the poor photo quality ... the power was out.
Scott's latest CD is the soundtrack to the play 'The Old Stock', that has been shown in schools throughout the province, and tells tales of some of the first Black Islanders to come here. Originally, all black Islanders were slaves, though many have left, or been assimilated over the years.
The cover of the CD is a print of a painting I did for Scott last summer, and is taken from photo's of Scott playing at the 'Blues Festival', at Cymbria Campground, in Central Prince Edward Island. The photo was taken while Scott sang 'Joe's Cafe', and the Painting is titled 'No Kissing Allowed'. The last photo of Scott, on stage, was my inspiration for the painting.
I feel extremely honoured that Scott would use my painting on the jacket of his latest CD. Thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity to contribute to your beautiful project.
I'll be spending this week, weather permitting, at various locations throughout Eastern Prince Edward Island, participating in the Montague Plein Air Festival. Each day features a different Island location, and I'm inviting anyone interested, to drop down and visit. You'll find a variety of local, national and international artists participating in the event.
